Participation Guide for “Japanese Festival・Tottori 2009”
1. About the Festival A festival for nation-wide traditional performing arts, “Japanese Festival・Tottori 2009,” will be held in Tottori in October, 2009.
It is the largest festival in Japan showcasing traditional performing arts from various regions throughout country together in one place.
In addition to allowing Tottori’s citizens to rediscover the magnificent charm and heritage of Japanese folk art, the event will simultaneously enhance Tottori’s appeal as a “star of traditional art” and “capital of cuisine.”
It is our hope that the festival will further promote Tottori to both people both overseas and in other prefectures throughout Japan.
Moreover, countries with ties to Tottori will also participate in the festival’s main events, and performance groups representing various regions will display their own folk dances and traditional performing arts.
In this way the festival will also become a forum to promote international exchange through the arts.
We look forward to hearing from regions that would like to participate!
