[Event Information] Miri International Jazz Festival
 

The 4th Miri International Jazz Festival will be held

at the Pavilion, ParkCity Everly Hotel Miri

from the 8th &ndash 9th May 2009


 

Miri International Jazz Festival aims to be the leading tourism-driven music festival in the region. By assembling regionally internationally recognised, jazz musicians, the musical event aims to draw visitors to Miri the Northern Region of Sarawak for a fun-filled entertaining experience at the same time showcasing Miri as a city of cosmopolitanism relaxing lifestyle.

The Miri International Jazz Festival is organised by the Sarawak Tourism Board in collaboration with a select group of committee members from the private sectors.

[About Miri]
    Miri Resort City is the gateway to northern Sarawak. This is a town that oil built. The bustling commercial centre is well poised to serve the cosmopolitan petroleum community welcome tourists from all the four corners of the earth.Miri has excellent public amenities, medical facilities, financial institutions as well as customs immigration offices. Sports recreation are high on the list. A state-of-the-art Marina attracts the international yachting community, divers who are keen to explore the &lsquounder water jungles&rsquo below.Miri is small enough for strolling, yet big enough to offer all amenities of life. It is also a staging point for trips to the vast rural hinterl drained by the Baram River, some of Sarawak&rsquos most famous national parks, including UNESCO World Heritage Site Gunung Mulu, Niah, Lambir Hills, Loagan Bunut lake, the cool highls of Bario Ba Kelalan.

[Getting to Miri]

Miri airport receives flights from Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu, Johor Bahru Labuan, interstate flights from Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu other smaller airports in around Miri.

Airport Transport

Travel agents hotels usually pick up their guests from the airport. Taxis into town are readily available, paid for by a &lsquotaxi coupon&rsquo purchased at the airport.

Immigration Formalities

Non-Malaysians need a valid passport, with a minimum of six months validity from their arrival date. Sarawak has its own immigration control arrivals from SabahPeninsular Malaysia still need to undergo immigration clearance. Visitors to Brunei may need to apply for a Brunei visa. For peninsular Malaysians Sabahans, Mykad may be used for immigration clearance those intending to stay beyond six months, passport is required.

*2-day pass = RM 100 per person
Child (3-12yrs):

1day pass = RM 30 per child
*2-day pass = RM 50 per child
*Take note:  The 2-day pass is limited edition!  
(The 2-day pass has a cut-off sale date by end of March 2009)

 The final list of performers program will be announced by the committee in November 2008.
